I was in the middle of my Thai fishcake, after all. But nevertheless I still gave the response some serious thought.
"I like the instant gratification that a comedian gets from an audience. That's very appealing. But on the other hand, writing is something you can do whilst sitting down with a nice cup of tea."
You can see why my school careers advisor despaired of me.
Is Thai fishcake another name for Thai stick, you scamp?

ReplyDeleteSee, this is where the school careers advisers were wrong. That is a totally valid reason for choosing a career. I am basing 5 years of higher education on it currently, including graduate school. These would obviously be advisers that haven't done a job that required you to be on your feet for 10-12 hours a day or wear a 14 pound toolbelt for that entire time.
